From the storms of Minneapolis' sub-zero winters hails BLACKOUT with their debut LP release on Aborted Society. Drawing on equal parts hardcore, punk, blues, and metal, this is ten tracks of raw, unabided Midwest madness. Recorded by Jon Greenslit at the House of Misery Studios in 2006, this is the alcoholic soundtrack for the apocalypse - a heavy influential doseage of Motorhead and Poison Idea while retaining a strong DIY punk sensibility. Impeccably catchy riffs and bluesy guitar solos wind their way through songs of drinking and rogue debauchery. Includes current and ex-members of Provoked, Scorned, Stillborn, Assrash, and Phalanx, among others. Release includes color printed inner sleeve with lyrics, first pressing of 500 on black vinyl.

BLACKOUT – s/t CD

Rockin’ Hardcore punk out of Minneapolis with members from PROVOKED among others on Profane Existence. At first, I really liked this one but after listening to it about ten times I’m starting to have second thoughts. I like the style which is Rockin’ Hardcore punk not far from INEPSY but the first problem here is that I don’t like the production at all. When I play it on low volume it sounds OK but when I put it up on a better stereo it sounds kind of crappy and more like a raw mix. The songs are good but I still can’t help feeling that something is missing to take it to that level where I really enjoy it, and this is really my type of punk. Not a bad record but I think they still have some steps to walk before they will climb to the top’s of this genre. And next time I would love to hear a more suitable production, less garage /d—beat and more well-produced! I’m lookin’ forward to hearing more from them! (Potin)
